The Center for Agriculture & Rural Development is committed to promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development practices that support local communities, protect natural resources, and build resilience in the face of environmental and economic challenges.
JDF programs and resources focus on promoting agroecology, regenerative agriculture, and other
sustainable farming practices that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and ecological
resilience.
We also support rural development initiatives that promote community-led economic development,
access to healthcare and education, and other essential services.
We believe that sustainable agriculture and rural development are critical components
of
building resilient and thriving communities.
Agriculture is one of the primary sources of livelihood for millions of people in India, with the
majority
of farmers relying on rain-fed agriculture. However, the lack of proper soil health and water
conservation
practices has led to a decline
in agricultural productivity, posing a significant challenge to the
agriculture sector. The soil health and water conservation problem is one of the most pressing issues
faced
by farmers in India.
Due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers, the soil is losing its fertility, and the groundwater levels are depleting rapidly. This has led to a significant decrease in crop yield and has resulted in lower incomes for farmers. Moreover, the lack of proper soil health practices has also contributed to soil erosion, which leads to loss of topsoil and nutrient depletion.
The Center for Agriculture & Rural Development (CARD) aims to provide farmers with the necessary
knowledge
and resources to adopt sustainable
agricultural practices. By promoting these practices, the center
hopes to improve soil health and water conservation and help farmers to increase their income and
livelihood.
Bihar is one of the most populous states in India, and a considerable portion of its population resides in rural areas. Despite being an agricultural state, Bihar's rural population faces several challenges related to poverty, illiteracy, lack of healthcare, and inadequate infrastructure. Additionally, frequent natural calamities like floods and droughts further exacerbate these problems.
The challenges faced by Bihar's rural population are significant, but they are not insurmountable. With the right interventions and support, rural communities can thrive and contribute to the state's overall development. The Center for Agriculture and Rural Development play a crucial role in this process by addressing the challenges faced by rural communities and promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
Join us in creating a more sustainable and resilient future for rural communities around the world.
